Welcome to Mrs. Combes's class, I am thrilled to be starting my fourth year at Liberty Middle.  This is my 12th year in education.  I earned my first degree in Public Relations at Illinois State University, and then decided I wanted to teach at the secondary level.  I proceeded to work on my teacher's certification in Secondary English.  I taught 2 years at East Alton-Wood River High School, 4 years at Civic Memorial High School, 1 year at Oldham County High School in Buckner, KY, 1 year at Southeast Middle School in Hazelwood, and now entering my 4th  year here at Liberty.  I also am currently coaching cheerleading at Liberty Middle School.

I reside in Bethalto where I was born and raised with my husbnad of 16 years and four beautiful daughters.  Jocelyn is entering 8th grade at Trimpe Middle School, Avari will be a 7th grader at Trimpe Middle School this year, Ryleigh will be starting 2nd grade at Parkside Primary, and my baby, Kinsley, is starting kindergarten at Bethalto East Elementary.

I am super excited to get the 2018-2019 school year rolling.  This year I will have 2 sections of 7th grade Language Arts.  I will also have 3 sections of new course that has been placed within the 6th Exploratory wheel; it is Middle School Transitional Study Skills.  This class has been set up to ease the transition between elementary school and middle school.  In both courses,  I have a weekly plan to get students on a routine. Each day of the week, students will know walking into my room what area of Language Arts/Study skills will be focused on for the day.  This will help with their performance because they will have an idea of what will be expected of them each day.

The schedule for 7th Grade LA is:

  • M-Nonfiction/Vocabulary

  • T/Th-Literature

  • W-Grammar

  • F-Independent Reading/Writing

  • 6th Grade Study Skills:
